CAC 40 Steady on Luxury Gains

The CAC 40 closed nearly flat at 8,078 on Monday as gains in the luxury sector offset losses in manufacturing and financial stocks.

Luxury shares outperformed as brands seek a boost from catwalk shows in Milan and Paris amid concerns over growth prospects.

LVMH’s flagship brands Dior and Louis Vuitton will be among the most closely watched shows at Paris Fashion Week, which kicks off today.

LVMH rose 0.5%, Hermès added 2.5%, and Kering gained 2.2%.

Meanwhile, Armani is open to involving multiple investors in the sale of a 15% stake earmarked in founder Giorgio Armani’s will.

He named LVMH, L’Oréal (+0.8%) and EssilorLuxottica (+1.5%) as preferred buyers.

Industrials closed mixed as US President Trump’s rejection of Iran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and halt hostilities triggered a rebound in oil prices, raising inflation concerns.

Industrials closed mixed and financials posted losses.

Elsewhere, Stellantis rose 0.4% after the US moved to ease fuel-economy requirements.

The CAC 40 Index gained 13 points or 0.16 percent on Monday to close at 8091 points. Gains were led by Edenred (2.55%), Hermes International (2.45%) and Essilor (2.29%). Biggest losers were TP (-2.07%), Publicis (-1.61%) and Capgemini (-1.48%).

French Stocks Start the Week Higher
The CAC 40 rose 0.4% to 8,107 on Monday, extending gains from the previous week as investors brushed aside President Donald Trump's rejection of Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and halt hostilities. While Tehran signaled it would not soften its conditions for reopening the strategically important waterway, Iranian officials maintained that diplomacy remains the only viable path toward resolving the conflict. On the corporate front, TotalEnergies gained 0.7% after the company pledged to increase its dividend by more than 5% annually through 2030 and expanded its share buyback program, supported by higher oil and gas production and elevated energy prices. Other notable gainers included L'Oréal (+1.8%), Hermès (1.9%), EssilorLuxottica (2.7%), and Sanofi (1.1%).
