French Stocks Hit New Record Peak
The CAC 40 rose 0.9% to 8,721 on Thursday, extending its winning streak to six consecutive sessions and reaching a new record high as investors continued to welcome a fresh round of corporate earnings and developments in US-Iran diplomatic efforts. Market sentiment improved after Iran said it had reached an agreement with Oman on a proposed shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, fueling expectations that the critical waterway could eventually reopen. Luxury stocks led the advance, with LVMH rising 1.2%, Hermès gaining 3.9%, and Kering adding 2.5%. Other notable gainers included L'Oréal (2.1%), AXA (1.1%), EssilorLuxottica (2.2%), and Publicis Groupe (3.5%). On the economic front, the Construction PMI rose to a five-month high of 41.5 in July 2026 from 38.2 in the previous month. Meanwhile, private-sector payroll employment fell by 0.1% quarter-on-quarter, or 19,300 jobs, to 21 million in the second quarter, in line with expectations and unchanged from the previous quarter.

The CAC 40 Index went up by 3 points or 0.03 percent on Wednesday to close at 8669 points. The rise was led by Edenred (2.41%), Publicis (2.35%) and Accor (1.70%). On the downside, the weakerst performers were Orange (-3.13%), STMicroelectronics (-2.55%) and Michelin (-2.08%).
