The CAC 40 Index Opens 0.92% Higher

The CAC 40 Index rose 39 points or 0.46 percent on Friday to close at 8525 points. Leading the gains are TP (10.63%), Saint-Gobain (6.96%) and ENGIE (3.99%). Top losers were Veolia (-3.18%), Orange (-2.97%) and Accor (-2.92%).

The CAC 40 gained 0.3% to close at 8,510 on Friday as investors assessed another round of corporate earnings and business updates. Engie surged 5.3% after reporting strong first-half results and raising its 2026 guidance. Crédit Agricole gained 2.5% after beating second-quarter expectations, while Saint-Gobain jumped 7% as the company returned to double-digit sales growth in the second quarter and reaffirmed its 2026 outlook. TotalEnergies added 0.8% as oil prices extended gains. Luxury stocks were mixed as persistent Middle East tensions weighed on risk sentiment. LVMH rose 0.4%, while L'Oréal fell 1.8% and Hermès lost 1.1%. On the data front, France's annual inflation rate accelerated to 2.1% in July from 1.8% in June, reinforcing the case for a more cautious ECB easing cycle. Meanwhile, producer prices fell 0.6% month-over-month in June after a revised 0.2% decline in May.

The CAC 40 climbed 1% to 8,572 on Friday, reaching its highest level since late February and putting the index on track for its fourth consecutive monthly gain, as investors welcomed a fresh batch of corporate earnings and business updates. Saint-Gobain surged 4.7% as the group returned to double-digit sales growth in Q2 and reaffirmed its 2026 outlook. STMicroelectronics gained 4.2%, tracking strength in global technology stocks amid renewed optimism over artificial intelligence-related spending. On the economic front, France’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.1% in July from 1.8% in the previous month, reinforcing the case for a more cautious approach to monetary easing by the European Central Bank. Meanwhile, French producer prices declined 0.6% month-on-month in June, following a revised 0.2% drop in May.
