CAC 40 Rises on Strong Corporate Earnings

The CAC 40 rose 0.6% to close at 8,459 on Tuesday as investors welcomed a fresh batch of corporate earnings.

LVMH gained 1% after reporting stronger-than-expected first-half revenue and earnings and an acceleration in second-quarter sales growth.

The upbeat results lifted the luxury sector, with L'Oréal up 2.4%, Hermès rising 2.3%, and Kering adding 2.9%.

Safran advanced 2.3% after raising its full-year guidance on stronger-than-expected first-half results, while Orange surged 5.3% after posting solid first-half earnings and upgrading its outlook.

In contrast, Michelin fell 1.5% after reporting revenue and net profit below expectations.

On the macro front, French consumer confidence improved to 86 in July, the highest level in four months, up from 84 in June, though it remained below the long-term average of 100.

Air Liquide, Essilor, Kering, Orange, and Safran are due to report earnings on Wednesday.

On the economic front, French consumer confidence edged up to a four-month high of 86 in July from 84 in the previous month, although it remained below its long-term average of 100.
