The CAC 40 fell 0.7% to close at 8,056 on Monday, as faltering US-Iran peace talks weighed on market sentiment.
US President Donald Trump and Iranian officials rejected each other’s latest proposals aimed at ending the prolonged conflict. The developments highlighted the fragility of the current ceasefire, pushing oil prices higher and increasing concerns over inflationary pressures and the impact on energy-dependent European economies.
Luxury stocks led the losses amid higher risk aversion, with LVMH down 4.4%, Hermès shedding 3.3%, and L’Oréal falling 2.6%.
Industrials also traded lower, with Airbus down 2.4% and Thales losing 1.3%.
In contrast, TotalEnergies gained 1.5% as higher crude prices supported energy stocks.
