The CAC 40 climbed 1.5% to 7,858 on Wednesday, extending gains from the previous session as market sentiment remained upbeat on hopes of a potential de-escalation in Middle East tensions.
Reports emerged that the US is engaged in diplomatic efforts to end the conflict with Iran, including a proposed 15-point framework and a push for a one-month ceasefire to enable negotiations.
However, uncertainty persists as Tehran has yet to formally respond after dismissing earlier talks, and hostilities between Iran and Israel continued with fresh airstrikes.
The majority of sectors traded in the green, with defense-related stocks Airbus (2.5%), Safran (2.7%), and Thales (2%) among the best performers.
Financials also showed strength, namely BNP Paribas (2.2%), Crédit Agricole (1.9%), and Société Générale (2.9%).
In contrast, TotalEnergies (-0.5%) and Orange (-1%) were among the few decliners.
