The CAC 40 Index Closes 0.30% Higher

The CAC 40 Index went up by 24 points or 0.30 percent on Monday to close at 7935 points. The rise was led by Unibail Rodamco (2.58%), STMicroelectronics (2.27%) and Accor (1.73%). On the downside, the weakerst performers were Edenred (-3.13%), Capgemini (-2.50%) and Bureau Veritas (-2.27%).

The CAC 40 climbed 0.3% to close at 7,936 on Monday as stabilizing energy markets and a slight retreat in global yields encouraged a cautious rebound following four sessions of losses. While geopolitical tensions in the Middle East persist, the market found relief after US officials indicated that tankers are transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which helped temper the immediate inflation fears that recently weighed on European equities. Luxury heavyweights led the advance with LVMH and Hermes gaining 1.1% and 0.3% respectively, while Airbus rose 0.9% as investors reassessed the industrial outlook. However, investors remained cautious amid upcoming European Central Bank and Federal Reserve meetings where policymakers are expected to maintain a restrictive stance to combat volatility. Underperformers included Capgemini and Pernod Ricard which fell 2.6% and 1.3%, respectively.

The CAC 40 fell 0.2% to around 7,900 on Monday, marking its fourth consecutive session of losses, as investors stayed cautious ahead of a week filled with key central bank meetings and rising worries that energy price spikes tied to the Iran conflict could revive inflation pressures across Europe. Israeli officials warned the war may continue for several more weeks, while President Trump said Tehran was “not ready” to reach a deal. Markets are now focused on upcoming decisions from the European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve, both widely expected to hold interest rates steady while evaluating the economic fallout from the conflict. Among notable decliners were Airbus (-2.1%), Safran (1.2%), EssilorLuxottica (-0.7%), while energy firm TotalEnergies (0.5%) outperformed.
