Australia Private House Permits Rebound

Private house approvals in Australia rose 1.3% month-on-month to 9,458 units in November 2025, shifting from a downwardly revised 1.3% decline in the previous month, flash data showed.

Approvals for private-sector houses grew in New South Wales (4.3%), Queensland (3.9%), and Western Australia (1.2%), but contracted in Victoria (-0.9%) and South Australia (-3.7%).

On a yearly basis, private house approvals increased 3.2%, faster than a 1.8% growth in October.

Private house approvals in Australia shrank 2.1% month-on-month to 9,251 units in October 2025, reversing a 3.2% rise in the previous month, matching preliminary estimates. Approvals for private-sector houses decreased in most states, with falls in Victoria (-6.6%), New South Wales (-2.2%), South Australia (-0.5%), and Western Australia (-0.1%). Queensland was the only state to record an increase, climbing 2.7% in October. On an annual basis, private house approvals advanced 1.3%.
