Taiwan Jobless Rate Ticks Higher

Taiwan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up to 3.33% in June 2026 from a more than 25-year low of 3.32% in the previous month.
The number of unemployed persons increased by 9 thousand month-on-month to 402 thousand, with new job seekers rising to 89 thousand from 84 thousand, while experienced job seekers increased to 313 thousand from 309 thousand.
Youth unemployment among those aged 15–24 also rose to 11.57% from 11.14% in May.
Meanwhile, the number of employed persons grew by 3 thousand to 11.637 million.
The labor force participation rate rose to 59.56% in June from 59.5% in the previous month, marking its highest reading since March.
In June 2025, the unemployment rate was slightly higher at 3.35%.
