Taiwan Jobless Rate Edges Down in August

Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up by 0.01 percentage point from a month earlier to 3.33% in September 2026, as the number of unemployed people increased by 1 thousand to 401 thousand. Meanwhile, total employment declined by 4 thousand to 11.644 million. The labor force participation rate remained unchanged at 59.59%, with the total labor force falling by just 2 thousand to 12.046 million. Not seasonally adjusted, the unemployment rate ticked lower to 3.36% in September from 3.41% in August, with the number of unemployed people decreasing by 6 thousand to 405 thousand. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate among those aged 15-24 fell to 11.59% from 11.74% in the previous month.

On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate edged up to 3.41% from 3.39% in July, with the number of unemployed rising by 2 thousand to 411 thousand. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate among those aged 15-24 increased to 11.74% from 11.71% in the previous month.

On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, the jobless rate edged up to 3.39% in July from 3.34% in June, with the number of unemployed individuals rising by 7 thousand to 409 thousand. Youth unemployment among those aged 15–24 increased to 11.71% from 11.57% in the prior month.
