Taiwan M2 Money Supply Hits Record High

The Broad M2 money supply in Taiwan increased by 5.11% year-on-year to an all-time high of TWD 66,845 billion in November 2025, following a 5.04% gain in the previous month.

This growth was mainly driven by the higher annual growth rate of demand deposits and the narrowing decline in foreign currency deposits.

For the first eleven months of the year, the average annual growth rate stood at 4.50%.

The Broad M2 money supply in Taiwan increased by 5.16% year-on-year, reaching a new all-time high of TWD 67,785 in January 2026, following a 5% gain in the previous month. This growth was mainly driven by a rise in the annual growth rate of lending and investment, which climbed to 6.71% from 6.23% in December, led by higher growth rates in claims on the private sector, government, and public enterprises. On a monthly basis, the broad M2 money supply rose by 1.05% in January 2026.

Despite this increase, the slowdown in annual M2 growth was primarily driven by net capital outflows. For the full year, the average annual growth rate stood at 4.54%.
