Luxembourg’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged down to 6.2% in May 2026 from 6.3% in the previous four months. The number of unemployed persons fell by 456 from the previous month to 19,674, while total employment increased by 138 to 303,958. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 6.3% in April, unchanged from the previous three months. It remained the highest jobless rate since February 2021, as the number of unemployed persons decreased by 58 month-on-month to 20,265. Meanwhile, the total employment increased by 407, bringing the total to 301,984, while the active labor force among Luxembourg nationals grew by 348, reaching 322,248. In terms of cross-border employment, the number of outgoing resident workers expanded by 25 from a month earlier to 15,266. Additionally, the incoming cross-border workers surged by 599 to 234,855. In April 2025, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was lower at 5.9%.

It remained the highest jobless rate since February 2021, as the number of unemployed persons rose by 188 month-on-month to 20,381. Meanwhile, the total employment increased by 363, bringing the total to 300,694, while the active labor force among Luxembourg nationals grew by 552, reaching 321,075.
