FTSE MIB Hits Multi-Year High

The FTSE MIB gained 1.2% to close at 44,945 on Tuesday, the highest since January of 2001, with strong support from the heavyweight financial sector.
UniCredit rose 2.3%, Intesa Sanpaolo gained 1.4%, and MPS climbed 2.6% after reports that Italy plans to revise its golden power rules to allow scrutiny of major financial-sector M&A only after reviews by the European Commission and the ECB.
Leonardo advanced 1.4% as investors monitored developments around Ukraine peace talks, while Eni added 1.0% amid higher oil prices.
Utilities also rose, with Enel and Snam both up 0.7%.
Tech and telecoms posted gains, with STMicroelectronics up 1.5% and TIM 1.6%.
Luxury stocks underperformed, with Moncler down 0.5% and Ferrari easing 0.1%.
