The FTSE MIB closed flat at 44,600 on Wednesday, extending the trend from the previous day as investors headed into shortened trading hours ahead of Christmas Eve.
The benchmark index will remain closed until Thursday for Christmas holiday.
Davide Campari-Milano fell more than 1%, continuing its decline from the prior session, after Campari’s controlling shareholder, Lagfin, announced it had regained full access to roughly 214 million shares that had previously been seized by authorities.
Other notable laggards included Saipem (-2.1%), Interpump Group (-1%), and Amplifon (-1.2%).
Meanwhile, losses were partially offset by gains in energy-related shares tracking higher oil prices, with Italgas (+1.5%), Terna Rete Elettrica Nazionale (+0.9%), and Enel (+0.8%) all in the green.
The Milan Borse will open on Monday after Christmas celebrations.
