The FTSE MIB rose 0.7% to around 43,710 in early trade on Tuesday, reaching its highest level in three weeks.
Financial stocks drove much of the gains, with Assicurazioni Generali up 2.7%, Banca Mediolanum climbing 2.9%, Bper Banca rising 1.5%, and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena adding 1.4%.
Shares of Leonardo also advanced 2.6%, following reports that Germany is set to approve defence orders worth €52 billion next week.
Investors now await the US Federal Reserve’s rate decision, where it is widely expected to deliver a 25-basis-point cut, though uncertainty remains over the central bank’s policy trajectory for 2026.
