The FTSE MIB rose 1.2% to close at 44,439 on Tuesday, its highest level since 2001, supported by optimism over the end of the US government shutdown and corporate earnings.
Brunello Cucinelli led gains with a 5.3% jump, followed by Stellantis at 4.1% and Saipem at 3.9%, after awarding Next Geosolutions (3.3%) an €8.5 million contract for offshore gas project work in North Africa.
Recordati advanced 3.7% ahead of its earnings release.
Financials extended gains, with UniCredit up 1.6%, Intesa Sanpaolo 1.3%, MPS 3%, and Poste Italiane 0.7%, which reports results tomorrow.
Eni added 1.9% amid higher oil prices.
On the downside, Infrastrutture Wireless tumbled nearly 12% after several brokers cut target prices following its revision of 2026–2030 guidance to the lower end of the range, citing persistent weakness in Italy’s telecom sector.
