2025-10-29 08:54 By Kyrie Dichosa 1 min. read

The FTSE MIB fell 0.2% to around 43,000 on Wednesday, snapping a four-day gain, as investors focused on the FOMC policy decision later in the day and assessed a fresh batch of corporate reports.

Moncler dropped nearly 4% after its Q3 revenues declined 1% at constant exchange rates, weighed down by soft tourist demand in Europe and Japan, despite rising sales in the Americas.

Leonardo was also down more than 1% ahead of trade talks between US President Trump and Chinese President Xi.

On the upside, FinecoBank gained over 2% after Barclays upgraded the stock from Equalweight to Overweight and raised its price target.

Other notable gainers included Stellantis (+2.8%) and Bper Banca (+1.4%).

Meanwhile, markets are widely expecting a 25bps rate cut from the Federal Reserve and are closely watching for signals from Fed Chair Jerome Powell on the future path of monetary policy.

FTSE MIB Recovers Partially on Iran-Oman Agreement
The FTSE MIB fell 0.2% to close at 45,625 on Thursday, turning muted after sharp morning losses as Iran and Oman reportedly drafted a protocol to monitor transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Global markets traded sharply lower after US President Trump signaled the Iran war would continue for weeks, but partially recovered on the transit protocol report. Meanwhile, oil prices continued to surge, fueling stagflation fears. Bond yields edged up and the BTP-Bund spread widened, pressuring the financial sector. UniCredit lost 2.5%, MPS fell 2.8%, and Mediobanca dropped 2.5%. STMicroelectronics led losses at 2.8% amid US semiconductor market weakness. In contrast, Eni advanced 4.3% on surging oil prices. Other gainers included Stellantis, up 4.1% after reporting a 10.3% annual rise in sales in March. Also, Generali was up 1%, and Enel gained 0.6%. Markets in Italy will be closed Friday for the Easter holiday.
