Hong Kong Exports Hit New Record Peak

Hong Kong’s exports surged 50.7% year-on-year to a record $672.5 billion in July 2026, although easing from 53.4% in June.

Outbound shipments slowed for electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances, and electrical parts thereof (54% vs 57.2% in June), telecommunications and sound recording and reproducing apparatus and equipment (37.2% vs 69.9%), power generating machinery and equipment (16.7% vs 23.5%), and photographic apparatus, equipment and supplies, optical goods, watches and clocks (8.5% vs 9.4%).

In addition, exports tumbled for professional, scientific and controlling instruments and apparatus (-10.2% vs 18.1%) and machinery specialized for particular industries (-8.8% vs 4.1%).

In contrast, outbound shipments accelerated for office machines and automatic data processing machines (106.5% vs 93.2%).

Regionally, exports to Asia grew 54.6%, led by Mainland China (56.5%).

Exports to other major markets also recorded strong gains, including the US (92.9%) and Mexico (48.9%).

Exports from Hong Kong surged 53.4% year-on-year to an all-time high of $641.1 billion in June 2026, accelerating from a 40.8% increase in the previous month. It marked the strongest annual growth since March 1984, driven primarily by robust shipments of electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances, and electrical parts thereof (57.2% vs 56.1% in May), office machines and automatic data processing machines (93.2% vs 50.2%), telecommunications and sound recording and reproducing apparatus and equipment (69.9% vs 37.6%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (58.6% vs 29.6%), power generating machinery and equipment (23.5% vs 7.6%), and professional, scientific and controlling instruments and apparatus (18.1% vs 7.3%). Regionally, exports to Asia climbed 54.4%, led by Mainland China and Hong Kong (59.2%), Singapore (83.0%), and Taiwan (79.9%). Shipments to other major markets also posted strong gains, including the US (114.3%) and Mexico (94.2%).

Hong Kong Exports Hit 3-Month Low
Exports from Hong Kong rose 40.8% year-on-year to a three-month low of $611.2 billion in May 2026, easing from April's more than five-year high of 42.9%. Shipments moderated across several major categories, particularly telecommunications and sound recording equipment (37.6% vs 54.6% in April), miscellaneous manufactured articles (29.6% vs 48.3%), power-generating machinery and equipment (7.6% vs 24.1%), and non-ferrous metals (39.8% vs 117.1%). In contrast, shipments of electrical machinery, apparatus, appliances, and related parts accelerated to 56.1% from 49.5%, while exports of office machines and automatic data-processing equipment rose 50.2%, from 41.5% in the previous month. Regionally, exports to Asia increased 44.6%, supported by strong growth in shipments to Mainland China (48.5%), Singapore (114.2%), Taiwan (90.2%), and Vietnam (67.8%). Elsewhere, exports to the United Kingdom and the United States also strengthened, surging 61.7% and 55.7%, respectively.
