French Unemployment Falls to Five-Month Low

The number of registered unemployed in mainland France declined by 11.2 thousand to 3.002 million in May 2025, marking the lowest level since December 2024.

The decrease was most pronounced among the core-aged population (-6.7 thousand to 1.729 million), followed by those aged over 50 years (-6.0 thousand to 795.6 thousand).

In contrast, unemployment among those aged under 25 rose by 1.5 thousand to 477.8 thousand.
