The CAC 40 edged up 0.1% to close at 8,328 on Tuesday, loosely extending its recent advance and hovering close to four week highs, with gains led by luxury stocks.

Kering surged 10.9% after reporting signs of stabilizing fourth quarter sales and signaling a return to growth this year, lifting broader sentiment across the sector.

LVMH rose 0.4%, Hermes gained 2.5%, and L’Oréal advanced 0.9%.

Healthcare names also provided support, with Sanofi up 2.4% and Air Liquide adding 1.3%.

In contrast, aerospace and defense stocks weighed, as Safran fell 2%, Thales declined 1.9%, and Airbus slipped 0.8%, while banks such as BNP Paribas and Societe Generale also underperformed.

On the macro side, recent data showing France’s unemployment rate rising to a four year high of 7.9% in the fourth quarter of 2025 tempered gains, highlighting ongoing domestic labor market weakness.

French Stocks End Three-Day Winning Streak
The CAC 40 fell 0.2% to 7,962 on Thursday, snapping a three-session winning streak, as fading hopes for a swift resolution to the Middle East conflict weighed on market sentiment.
