The CAC 40 fell 0.3% to close at 8,075 on Tuesday, extending the decline from the previous session as investors navigated a broader risk-off environment and digested sharp overnight moves in cryptocurrencies and Japanese government bonds.
Luxury houses Hermes (-1.4%), L'Oréal (-1.6%), and Kering (-1.7%) led the decline.
In contrast, bank shares provided some offset, led by BNP Paribas (+2.2%), Crédit Agricole (+1.6%), and Société Générale (+2.2%).
Among individual movers, Carrefour gained 0.3% after completing the sale of its entire Italy business to NewPrinces, while Saint-Gobain dropped 0.8% following the finalization of divestments in SFIC Belgium and Brazil’s Tumelero.
On the data front, France’s central government budget deficit narrowed to €136.2 billion in January–October 2025, significantly below the €157.4 billion gap recorded a year earlier, offering some relief as lawmakers continue to negotiate the 2026 budget.
