The CAC 40 edged marginally lower to close at 8,093 on Thursday after two straight sessions of gains that had pushed French stocks to their highest since November 17th, with investors pausing as markets digested growing odds of a Federal Reserve rate cut next month and tracked developments in the Russia Ukraine peace process ahead of Friday’s flash November inflation release.
Luxury names underperformed, with Hermès and Kering down 1.8% and 1%, respectively, while Sanofi (-0.5%) and Air Liquide (-0.4%).
On the other hand, Pernod Ricard bounced 2.1% to recoup part of Wednesday’s near 3% drop after JPMorgan cut its price target, while BNP Paribas added 1.5% to help limit the index’s decline.
