The CAC 40 rose 1% to 8,030 points on Thursday afternoon, breaking a five-session losing streak as investors cheered Nvidia’s quarterly results, which exceeded revenue and profit expectations.
A stronger-than-expected US jobs report and the Fed’s latest meeting minutes also tempered expectations of a December rate cut.
The employment report, the first released after the government shutdown, showed the US economy added 119,000 jobs in September, well above market forecasts of 50,000.
Among individual stocks, BNP Paribas (+5.1%), Legrand (+2.7%), and Thales (+2.3%) led gains.
Luxury shares rebounded, with LVMH up 1.9%, while Societe Generale (+1.9%), Airbus (+1.9%), and Schneider Electric (+1.6%) also advanced.
