Industrial production in France declined by 1.1% month-over-month in July 2025, reversing a revised 3.8% surge in June, which had been the strongest growth since July 2020.
The drop was smaller than the expected 1.8% decline.
The slowdown was driven by a 1.7% fall in manufacturing output (vs. 3.5% in June), particularly in transport equipment (-10.7%), mainly due to aeronautics and space construction following a production peak in June.
Output also decreased in agricultural food industries (-1.3%) and in electrical, electronic, computer equipment, and machinery (-2.2%).
Meanwhile, construction output rebounded (0.6% vs. 0.2%), supported by higher output in specialized construction work and building construction.
Over the last three months (May to July), production was higher than the same period a year earlier, both in the manufacturing industry (+1.3%) and in industry as a whole (+0.8%).
On a yearly basis, industrial output grew 1.2%, after a 2.2% increase in June.
