France’s business climate indicator held steady at 96 in June 2025, unchanged from the previous month and remaining at its weakest level since February 2025.
The reading also stayed below the long-term average of 100, mainly due to a continued decline in sentiment among manufacturers (96 vs 97 in May).
Additionally, business climate in the construction sector slightly fell, reaching its long-term average (100 vs 101).
On the other hand, the services sector improved slightly (96 vs 95), supported by better demand and staffing expectations, while confidence among retailers also edged up (99 vs 98), driven by stronger ordering intentions.
Meanwhile, the employment climate indicator increased by 3 percentage points to 97 in June from 94 in May, still remaining below its long-term average over the past year.
This uptick is mainly due to improved expectations for staffing levels in services (excluding temporary staff).
