Baltic Dry Index at 3-Week High

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, adavanced for a fourth straight session on Tuesday, rising about 3.3% to a three-week high of 2,936 points.
The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, surged by 4.7% to its highest level since June 5 at 4,778 points; and the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose 2.4% to a peak since July 20 at 2,187 points.
Among smaller vessels, the supramax index went up by 0.2% to 1,613 points.
