Baltic Dry Index Extends Gains to Over 2-Week High

The Baltic dry index surged 4.1% to 2,843 on Monday, its highest level since July 15. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes, including iron ore and coal, soared 6.2% to an over two-week high of 4,564. The panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose 2.3% to 2,135, its highest level since July 21. Also, the supramax index increased to 1,610.

The Baltic dry index rose 2.2% to 2,732 on Friday, its highest level since July 27. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes, including iron ore and coal, advanced 3.1% to 4,296, its highest level in two weeks. The panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, increased 2.3% to an over one-week high of 2,087. On the other hand, the supramax index decreased to 1,609, its lowest level since June 8. Considering July, the Baltic dry index rose 9.2%.

The Baltic dry index rose 1.6% to 2,673 on Thursday, recovering from three consecutive sessions of losses. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes, including iron ore and coal, advanced 2.5% to 4,167. Also, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, increased 2.3% to 2,040, its highest level since July 24. On the other hand, the supramax index decreased 1.1% to 1,610, its lowest level in three weeks.
