Baltic Dry Index Rises to 1-Week High

The Baltic dry index increased 0.7% to 2,743 on Friday, its highest level since July 17.

The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes, including iron ore and coal, rose 2.1% to 4,285, its highest level since July 16.

On the other hand, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 2% to 2,024, its lowest level in nearly three months.

Also, the supramax index decreased 0.5% to 1,694, its lowest since July 9.

For the week, the Baltic index fell 0.3%.

The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes, including iron ore and coal, advanced 2% to 4,198, its highest level since July 16. On the other hand, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 2.6% to a one-month low of 2,064. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index decreased 0.8% to 1,702, its lowest since July 9.

On the other hand, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 2.8% to 2,120, its lowest since June 29. The supramax index decreased 0.9% to 1,715.
