Baltic Dry Index Rises to 1-Week High

The Baltic dry index rose 1.7% to 2,715 on Wednesday, recording its first gain since July 14.

The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes, including iron ore and coal, advanced 4.7% to 4,114, its highest level since July 16.

On the other hand, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 2.8% to 2,120, its lowest since June 29.

The supramax index decreased 0.9% to 1,715.

Also, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, decreased 0.9% to 2,227. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index increased to 1,738, its highest level since August 2022.
