Baltic Dry Index Snaps 3-Day Losing Streak

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, increased 0.7% to 2,001 on Wednesday, ending a three-session losing streak.

The capesize index, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, rose 2.5% to 2,915.

On the other hand, the panamax index, which usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 2.6% to 1,796.

Also, the supramax index decreased 0.6% to 1,208.

Baltic Dry Index Falls Further to Near 2-Week Low
The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, declined for a fourth session on Tuesday, dropping about 2.4% to its lowest since March 12 at 1,989 points. The capesize index, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, was down for a second day, slumping 3.2% to 2,844 points; and the panamax index, which usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 2.6% to 1,839 points. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index decreased 0.3% to 1,215 points.

Baltic Dry Index at Near 1-Week Low
The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, was down for a third session on Monday, falling 0.9% to a near one-week low of 2,037 points. The capesize index, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, decreased by 1.1% to 2,937 points; and the panamax index, which usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, went down 0.8% to 1,888 points. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index shed 6 points, or 0.5%, to 1,218 points.
