Australia Employment Notches Record Peak

Employment in Australia surged by 42,200 to a record high of 14.68 million in October 2025, sharply accelerating from a downwardly revised 12,700 gain in the previous month and far exceeding market expectations of a 20,000 increase.
Full-time employment jumped by 55,300 to a new top of 10.14 million, rebounding sharply from a revised 6,500 rise in September, while part-time employment fell by 13,100 after a 6,300 increase previously.
The employment-to-population ratio and participation rate were unchanged at 64.0% and 67.0%, respectively.
On an annual basis, total employment rose by 232,700, or 1.6%.
