The Broad M2 money supply in Taiwan increased by 5.38% year-on-year to a new record high of TWD 68,454 in February 2026, following a 5.16% rise in the previous month.
The growth was mainly driven by increased money issuance and stronger lending and investment activity during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Lending and investment by all monetary institutions accelerated to 7.37% from 6.71% in January, mainly due to faster growth in claims on the private sector and government debt.
Including life insurance companies and adjusting for bad debt write-offs, the annual growth rate of lending and investment across all financial institutions increased to 5.94% from 5.53% in the previous month.
On a monthly basis, the broad M2 money supply rose by 0.99% in February 2026.
