Taiwan Exports Hit Record High

Exports from Taiwan surged 60.9% year-on-year to a record USD 87.22 billion in September 2026, accelerating from a 41.0% gain in the previous month, largely reflecting the AI boom and robust demand for technology products.

Growth was mainly driven by strong demand for information, communication and audio-video products (103.0%), parts of electronic products (45.3%), machinery (30.7%), base metals and articles of base metal (22.9%), and mineral products (86.4%).

The US remained the largest export destination, accounting for 31.5% of total exports, with shipments soaring 106.2%.

Exports also increased to Mainland China and Hong Kong (30.2%), ASEAN countries (93.4%), Europe (20.6%), South Korea (51.6%), and Japan (13.4%).

For the first nine months of the year, total exports reached USD 661.55 billion, 46.2% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Exports from Taiwan surged 41% year-on-year to a record high of USD 82.4 billion in August 2026, accelerating from a 32.9% gain in the previous month, mainly supported by the AI-driven boom as demand for technology products remained robust. Growth was mainly driven by strong demand for information, communication and audio-video products (41.8%), parts of electronic products (58%), base metals and articles of base metal (22.4%), machinery (15.2%), and mineral products (70.2%). The US remained the largest export destination, accounting for 28.7% of total exports, with shipments rising 20.7%. Exports also grew to Mainland China and Hong Kong (39.3%), ASEAN countries (42.2%), Europe (34.8%), South Korea (44.6%), and Japan (32%). For the first eight months of the year, total exports reached USD 574.3 billion, 44.2% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Taiwan Exports Rise Less Than Expected
Exports from Taiwan surged 32.9% year-on-year to USD 75.3 billion in July 2026, easing from a 40.3% jump in June and missing market expectations of a 40.7% increase. Growth was driven by strong demand for electronic products, with shipments rising 50.5%, while exports of information and communication products increased 29.5%. The US remained the largest export destination, accounting for 31% of total shipments, with exports rising 25.2%, followed by Mainland China and Hong Kong, where shipments increased 33.4%. Exports continued to benefit from robust demand for AI and high-performance computing applications, supporting shipments across Taiwan's semiconductor and AI hardware supply chains. The Ministry of Finance expects exports to grow 31%-35% year-on-year in August. In the first seven months of 2026, total exports reached USD 493.0 billion, up 44.7% from the same period a year earlier.
