2026-09-10 06:17 By Joshua Ferrer 1 min. read

Industrial production in Sweden rose by 0.2% year-on-year in July 2026, rebounding from a downwardly revised 0.5% fall in June, which marked the first contraction since March 2025.

The recovery was largely driven by higher output in the manufacturing sector, rising 0.6% after showing no growth in the previous month.

Production mainly increased for chemical, chemical products and pharmaceutical products (13% vs 3.8%) and basic metals and fabricated metal products (12.4% vs 1.2%), which more than offset declines in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-16.9% vs -10.7%) and rubber and plastic products (-10.6% vs -3.7%).

Meanwhile, mining activity (-9% vs -14.3%) continued to decrease but at a softer pace, as metal ore mines declined less (-8.8% vs -17.6%), while other mines and quarries (10.5% vs -1.8%) rebounded sharply.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output dropped 3.6%, slipping further from an upwardly revised 0.7% fall in June.
