Imports to Latvia rose 11.2 percent from a year earlier to EUR 1.365 million in March of 2019, mainly due to purchases of aircraft, spacecraft and parts thereof (41.8 percent); electrical machinery and equipment (9.9 percent); pharmaceutical products (20.5 percent) and plastics and articles thereof (10.4 percent). On the other hand, imports fell for machinery and mechanical appliances (-9.2 percent); vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (-1.2 percent) and mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (-33.6 percent). Main import partners were Lithuania (16.3 percent of total imports), Germany (10.2 percent), Poland (8.9 percent) and Estonia (7.8 percent). Imports in Latvia averaged 605.91 EUR Million from 1993 until 2019, reaching an all time high of 1518.30 EUR Million in October of 2018 and a record low of 52.50 EUR Million in September of 1993.
