Sensex Finishes Slightly Higher

India’s BSE Sensex closed about 0.4% up at 74,828.3 on Thursday, reversing losses from the previous day, amid broad-based buying.
The further easing in oil prices and hopes of renewed US-Iran talks lifted investor sentiment, while continued foreign investor selling remained a key headwind for the domestic market.
Foreign investors offloaded 38.1 billion rupees ($398.6 million) of Indian equities on Tuesday, marking their eighth selling session in the past nine trading days.
Among sectoral indices, metals and heavyweight financials provided the main support, while IT remained under pressure due to demand and earnings concerns.
Tata Steel outperformed, climbing 3.8%, followed by Bajaj Finance, which gained 3.1% after UBS upgraded its rating and raised its price target on an improved earnings outlook.
ITC (+1.8%), UltraTech Cement (+1.7%), Power Grid (+1.7%) and L&T (+1.5%) also advanced firmly.
On the downside, the biggest laggards were HCL Tech (-1.1%), Infosys (-1%) and TCS (-1%).
