Sensex Finishes Slightly Higher
India’s BSE Sensex closed about 0.4% up at 74,828.3 on Thursday, reversing losses from the previous day, amid broad-based buying. The further easing in oil prices and hopes of renewed US-Iran talks lifted investor sentiment, while continued foreign investor selling remained a key headwind for the domestic market. Foreign investors offloaded 38.1 billion rupees ($398.6 million) of Indian equities on Tuesday, marking their eighth selling session in the past nine trading days. Among sectoral indices, metals and heavyweight financials provided the main support, while IT remained under pressure due to demand and earnings concerns. Tata Steel outperformed, climbing 3.8%, followed by Bajaj Finance, which gained 3.1% after UBS upgraded its rating and raised its price target on an improved earnings outlook. ITC (+1.8%), UltraTech Cement (+1.7%), Power Grid (+1.7%) and L&T (+1.5%) also advanced firmly. On the downside, the biggest laggards were HCL Tech (-1.1%), Infosys (-1%) and TCS (-1%).

Sensex Edges Up on Lower Oil Prices
India’s BSE Sensex edged up about 0.2% to 74,688 at Wednesday’s open, recovering from the previous session’s losses as falling crude prices and gains across Asian markets offered support, although persistent foreign fund outflows capped sentiment. Oil prices eased as Saudi Arabia restored crude supply via a key Red Sea pipeline, while hopes for a diplomatic solution to the US-Iran war grew. With Brent crude near $98 a barrel, traders watched bond yields and US-Iran diplomacy for direction. Meanwhile, foreign investors sold 38.1 billion rupees ($398.6 million) of Indian equities on Tuesday, extending their selling streak to eight sessions in the past nine trading days. Among stocks, Arvind SmartSpaces jumped 10.8% on bookings above 5 billion rupees at its Bengaluru project Arvind Sylva. Clean Max Enviro Energy gained 2.9% after Macquarie initiated coverage with an “outperform” rating, while Bajaj Finance rose 2.1% after UBS upgraded it to “neutral” from “sell.”
