Baltic Dry Index Falls for 5th Session

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors spot rates for vessels carrying dry bulk commodities, fell by 2.8% from the previous session to 3,037.
It was the fifth consecutive session of decline since the index touched an over two-and-a-half-year high of 3,227.
The index tracking rates for capsize vessels, commonly used for iron or and coal, slumped 4.1% to 5,040, tracking similar moves for iron ore.
In turn, the panamax index fell by 36 points to 2,254, while the supramax index inched up by one point to 1,584.
