The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, eased a third consecutive session on Tuesday, falling about 0.5% to a near one-week low of 3,205 points, pressured by the larger vessel segments.
The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, decreased by 0.7% to 5,459 points; and the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, shed 23 points at 2,321 points.
Conversely, the supramax index rose 7 points to 1,577 points.
