Baltic Dry Index Extends Rally Into 14th Day

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, advanced for a 14h consecutive day on Tuesday, rising 0.7% to a new high since December 2023 at 2,600 points, buoyed by the bigger-size segment.
The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, increased by 1.5% to a fresh peak since December 2023 at 4,633 points.
Conversely, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, eased for the fourth session, down about 1% to 1,915 points; and the supramax index edged down 1 point to 1,441 points.
