Chile Industrial Output Falls for 4th Month

Industrial production in Chile decreased 1.6% year-on-year in January 2026, following a revised 1.8% fall in December.

It was the fourth consecutive decline in industrial output, driven by 3.8% drop in manufacturing production, the most since June 2024.

Also, mining production decreased 0.1%, including a 3% fall in copper output.

On the other hand, utilities production rose 1.2%.

Chile’s industrial production fell 1.9% year-on-year in December 2025, following a 0.9% decline in November. It was the largest drop in industrial output since February, driven by a 4.8% fall in mining production, including a 9.3% decline in copper output. In contrast, manufacturing output rose slightly by 0.1%, supported by a 3.3% increase in food products, while utilities production increased 1.6%.

Chile Industrial Output Declines in November
Chile’s industrial production fell 0.8% year-on-year in November 2025, following a 0.5% decline in October. Mining output dropped 1.3%, after a 0.8% contraction in the prior month, with copper production down 7.2% and metallic mining falling 4.3%. Manufacturing output declined 1.3%, worsening from a 0.6% drop in October, driven by a 17% fall in wood production and wood and cork products. In contrast, utilities output rose 2.4%, accelerating from 1.1% in the previous month, as electricity generation increased 2.2%.
