Taiwan Export Orders Hit New Record Peak

Orders for Taiwanese exports soared 61.9% year-on-year to a new record high of USD 97.9 billion in July 2026, following a 59.4% jump in the previous month, as booming global demand for AI-related and technology products continued to fuel overseas sales.

Growth accelerated across most major product categories, led by information and communication products (89.5% vs 81.9% in June), electrical machinery (16.7% vs 14%), basic metals and related products (24.3% vs 16.5%), machinery (31.3% vs 17.6%), and mineral products (44.4% vs 30.5%).

Meanwhile, growth eased for electronic products (71.7% vs 79.9%) and transport equipment (6.4% vs 12.3%), while orders for optical, photographic, and cinematographic equipment declined at a faster pace (-10.6% vs -3.3%).

All major destinations posted significant gains, led by the US, where orders soared 88.9%, followed by Mainland China and Hong Kong (47.2%) and ASEAN countries (61.1%), underscoring the broad-based strength of overseas demand.

The sharp rise continued to be driven by robust global demand for AI-related and technology products. Significant growth was recorded across major categories, particularly information and communication products (81.9% vs 67.2% in May), electronic products (79.9% vs 61.2%), electrical machinery products (14.0% vs 7.6%), and basic metals (16.5% vs 9.6%). Export orders for transport equipment also rebounded strongly (12.3% vs -1.4%). Meanwhile, growth moderated for machinery products (17.6% vs 22.5%) and mineral products (30.5% vs 53.1%), while orders for optical, photographic, and cinematographic apparatus continued to decline (-3.3% vs -1.7%). Among major markets, export order growth remained strong, led by the US (83.6%), followed by the Mainland China and Hong Kong (37.2%), and the ASEAN countries (52.3%).

Taiwan Export Orders Growth Eases in May
Orders for Taiwanese exports rose by 47.2% year-on-year to USD 89.48 billion in May 2026, easing from a 48.1% increase in the previous month. The moderation was largely driven by softer demand for information and communication products (67.2% vs 89.7% in April), electrical machinery products (7.6% vs 14.1%), machinery (22.5% vs 23.4%), and mineral products (53.1% vs 70.3%). In addition, export orders for optical, photographic, and cinematographic apparatus tumbled (-1.7% vs 5.8%), while orders for transport equipment continued to decline (-1.4% vs -0.9%). On the other hand, demand strengthened for electronic products (61.2% vs 45.9%) and basic metals (9.6% vs 4.5%). Growth remained robust across major markets, particularly the US (63.9%), Europe (48.7%), Mainland China and Hong Kong (37.5%), ASEAN countries (31.6%), and Japan (29.1%).
