Sweden New Orders Rebound in February

Total orders received by the Swedish industry fell by 7.3% year-on-year in March 2026, reversing from a downwardly revised 0.6% increase in the previous month. Orders from foreign customers dropped by 14.5%, worsening from a 1.3% decline in February, while domestic orders rose 6.5%, accelerating from a 4.9% increase. Among industrial groups, the intermediate goods industry recorded a sharper decline (-25.4% vs -5.6%), while the durable consumer goods industry also turned negative (-1.8% vs 11.2%). Meanwhile, growth accelerated in the energy-related sector (19.3% vs 6.0%) and the non-durable consumer goods industry (10.7% vs 5.1%). On a monthly basis, industrial orders fell 1.4% in March, unchanged from an upwardly revised 1.4% decline in the previous month. In the first quarter of the year, total orders were down 4.0%, with the domestic market growing 3.7% and the export market declining 8.2%.

Total orders received by Swedish industry rose 1% year-on-year in February 2026, rebounding from a revised 4.4% decline in the previous month. Orders in Sweden increased by 4.9% in February, recovering from a 1.2% fall in the prior month, while foreign orders declined at a softer pace of 1.3%, compared with a 6.1% drop previously. Among industrial groups, growth returned in durable goods (10.1% vs -0.2%), non-durable goods picked up (5.1% vs 1.6%), and energy-related goods edged higher (6% vs 5.9%). At the same time, orders in intermediate goods fell at a slower pace (-5.2% vs -17.7%), while growth in capital goods eased (4.4% vs 10.9%). On a monthly basis, new orders fell 1.6% in February, slowing from a revised 5% decline in the preceding period. In the first two months of the year, total orders were down 1.8%, with the domestic market growing 1.8% and the export market declining 3.8%.

Total orders received by the Swedish industry fell by 3.9% year-on-year in January 2026, slipping from a downwardly revised 6.6% increase in the previous month. It marked the first month of decline since May last year, as orders received from both customers in Sweden (-0.5% 7.3% in December) and from abroad (-5.7% vs 6.5%) decreased. Among industrial groups, demand for intermediate goods sharply declined (-17.6% vs 12.8%), while growth eased for non-durable consumer goods (1.5% vs 3.5%). In contrast, orders rebounded for energy-related (8.2% vs -8.7%) and durable consumer goods (2.7% vs -5.4%), while it increased further for capital goods (12.2% vs 4.5%). On a monthly basis, new orders declined by 5.5% in January, following a downwardly revised 7.5% drop in the preceding period.
