Total orders received by the Swedish industry rose by 6.8% year-on-year in December 2025, sharply slowing from a downwardly revised 19.4% growth in the previous month.
It marked the lowest level since September, as orders received from customers abroad significantly moderated (7.1% vs 27.1% in November), which offset stronger gains in orders received from customers in Sweden (7.7% vs 5.4%).
Among industrial groups, demand for capital goods sharply eased (4.5% vs 70.4%), while it continued to decline for durable consumer goods (-5.7% vs -1.1%).
On the other hand, orders rebounded for intermediate goods (12.8% vs -6%) and fell at a much softer pace for energy-related goods (-9% vs -28.7%).
On a monthly basis, new orders dropped 7.9%, reversing an 8.8% rise in November.
Over the whole period of 2025, total orders in industry were 7.5% higher compared to the same period a year earlier, with the domestic market increasing 3.4% and export markets growing 10.3%.
