Consumer prices in Sweden rose by 0.2% year-on-year in July 2026, slightly above market expectations for a 0.1% gain but easing from a 0.7% increase in the previous month, according to preliminary estimates.

The latest reading also marked the softest rise since May last year.

“Energy prices fell sharply in July, which contributed to the lower inflation rate according to the CPI and CPIF,” said Mikael Nordin, price statistician at Statistics Sweden.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.3%, the first decline in three months and reversing a 0.4% rise in the preceding period.

Meanwhile, the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF), the Riksbank’s target measure, rose 0.7% year-on-year in July, easing from a 1.3% increase in June but slightly above expectations of a 0.6% gain.

Still, the reading was the lowest since December 2020.
