Slovak unemployment rate decreased to 6.1 percent in October 2017 from 6.4 percent in the previous month and lower than market expectations of 6.21 percent. It was the lowest jobless rate reported so far, as the number of unemployed fell by 7.7 thousand to 167 thousand. A year earlier, the jobless rate was 9.1 percent. Unemployment Rate in Slovakia averaged 12.96 percent from 1994 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 19.79 percent in January of 2001 and a record low of 6.10 percent in October of 2017.
