Prices rose at a faster pace for housing & utilities (2.2 percent from 2 percent in July); miscellaneous goods & services (2.1 percent from 2 percent); transport (8.2 percent from 6.7 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (2 percent from 1.6 percent). Meanwhile, inflation was steady for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.6 percent, the same as in the previous month); education (0.9 percent); health (2.1 percent) and restaurants & hotels (3.5 percent). In contrast, cost slowed for furniture & household equipment (1.3 percent from 1.5 percent); recreation & culture (1.9 percent from 2.2 percent) and clothing & footwear (0.9 percent from 1.4 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.2 percent, after a 0.1 percent drop in July.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production declined 0.9 percent, after showing no growth in the prior month. Considering the first seven months of 2018, industrial activity went up 1.7 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.

Slovakia GDP Annual Growth Rate at 4.20 percent  
The Slovak economy advanced 4.2 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2018, compared to a preliminary estimate of 4.1 percent and above a 3.6 percent growth in the previous period. It was the fastest expansion since the fourth quarter of 2015. Fixed investment rose sharply (20.4 percent from 12.4 percent in Q1) and net external demand contributed positively to growth, as exports climbed 8.0 percent (from 2.4 percent in Q1) and imports advanced at a slower 7.8 percent (from 3.2 percent in Q1). Meanwhile, household consumption (2.2 percent from 3.5 percent) and government spending (2.5 percent from 3.1 percent) increased less. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the GDP expanded 1.1 percent, slightly above a preliminary figure of 1.0 percent and compared to a 1.0 percent advance in the first quarter of 2018.
