Poland Employment Falls in Line with Forecasts

Poland’s corporate employment fell by 0.8% year-on-year in February 2026, bringing total employment to 6.39 million, in line with market expectations and unchanged from the previous month.

This marked the 29th consecutive month of decline in corporate employment, driven by job losses in the mining and quarrying sector (-3.6% vs. -3.4%) and construction (-0.2% vs. -0.1%).

On a monthly basis, employment was unchanged, following a 0.2% decline in January.

Meanwhile, average monthly gross salaries rose by 6.1% compared to a year earlier, reaching PLN 9,135.7.

The drop exceeded market expectations of a 0.5% contraction and deepened from the 0.7% decrease recorded in the previous month, marking the 28th consecutive month of declines in corporate employment. On a monthly basis, employment fell by 0.2%, following a 0.1% decline in December. Meanwhile, average monthly gross salaries rose by 6.1% compared to a year earlier, reaching PLN 9,002.

This marked the 27th consecutive month of decline in corporate employment, though at a softer pace. On a monthly basis, employment declined 0.1%, reversing a 0.1% rise in the previous month. Meanwhile, average monthly gross salaries rose 8.6% from a year earlier, reaching PLN 9,583.
