Poland Employment Falls in Line with Forecasts

Poland’s corporate employment fell by 0.9% year-on-year in April 2026, bringing total employment to 6.39 million, in line with market expectations and unchanged from the previous month.

This marked the 31st consecutive month of decline in corporate employment, reflecting sustained weakness in the sector.

On a monthly basis, employment remained at a 0.1% fall in April.

Meanwhile, average monthly gross salaries rose by 5.4% compared to a year earlier, reaching PLN 9,531.

The drop exceeded market expectations of a 0.8% contraction and deepened from the 0.8% decrease recorded in the previous month, marking the 30th consecutive month of declines in corporate employment and still the steepest among the sequence. On a monthly basis, employment fell by 0.1%, following a 0.2% decline in February. Meanwhile, average monthly gross salaries rose by 5.7% compared to a year earlier, reaching PLN 9,652.

On a monthly basis, employment was unchanged, following a 0.2% decline in January. Meanwhile, average monthly gross salaries rose by 6.1% compared to a year earlier, reaching PLN 9,135.7.
