Imports to Norway jumped 19.2 percent from the previous year to NOK 59.2 billion in May 2017, mainly driven by higher purchases of machinery and transport equipment (21.7 percent), manufactured goods (16.7 percent) and chemicals and related products (14.9 percent). Meantime, imports of ships and oil platforms dropped by 90.4 percent. In the first five months of the year, imports went up by 6.9 percent to NOK 260.5 billion compared with the same period of 2016. Imports in Norway averaged 16954.23 NOK Million from 1960 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 64326.16 NOK Million in April of 2015 and a record low of 696 NOK Million in July of 1960.
